Small and versatile, plays smooth 1080P
This review is from: Diamond HD Media Wonder Full HD Media Player (Electronics)
I have had it for 3 weeks, plays movies without problems (my DVD and BluRay backups, mp3, mp4...). Playing movies was smooth - a pleasant experience, no jerking of any kind. Your experience might be different - I was using 7200rpm external SATA hard drive.

Being hard of hearing the Closed Captioning support was a total must for me and it does the job albeit not extensively, picture encoded captions are not supported (the kind of CC your TV show when receiving broadcast signal, which are the only captions some movies have, rendering it unwatchable for hearing disabled), only those captions are supported which you can directly pick from movie stream (if any).
Would be nice to have it remember your captioning preference instead it make you to turns captions on every time you change file, default is captioning OFF.

Lackluster media browsing, in folder with many media files it take forever to find what you want, player attempting preview anything you have in your list and the browser line is on it thus delaying greatly your efforts go to next file, really annoys me. there are no tools to hasten file search and internet media support is mediocre at best, would welcome at least some YouTube and Pandora support if not Hulu and other options.

For its price it seems to be best media player on the market right now, considering there is no hard drive included it is still a bit expensive.

Not disappointed to far..
This review is from: Diamond HD Media Wonder Full HD Media Player (Electronics)
I bought this product on the recommendation of a friend.

It's been able to play the .mkv files that I have. The audio and video remain in sync after forward and rewind of the file. The remote has a volume control (1-32 levels). It had to be kept at max. and my TV volume at a reasonably high side (+50 or so, I keep it at around 18-20 for regular TV programs) to get a decent audible output. Still that's the main problem. If the files don't have good audio you'd need headphones to really enjoy the movie.

Also it couldn't play some .flv files that I have which the player claims to be able to. Now I can play those on my laptop, so I know the files aren't corrupt. Also it couldn't play the 3gp converted to .avi files (from my cell phone). My old Philips DVD player can play the audio track out of that at least. This fellow says the file is unsupported.

Apart from that it loads my .jpg images real fast, and displays them without much effort. I still haven't played .avi files that could be played, but I am sure it will.

The best part of this player I found is that it remembers where I stopped watching the movie, and prompts me whether I wished to continue from that break point. That saves me a lot of time forwarding to that point, since I generally watch a movie in parts. I had to forward (32x) on my old DVD player.

All in all, I am *not* disappointed with it. Definitely not thrilled.

Overlooked GEM of Media Streamers w/extensive format support!
This review is from: Diamond HD Media Wonder Full HD Media Player (Electronics)
I've been looking for a well-featured Media Streamer for about a $100 for a while now and found this little gem at a local Fry's store (TX). Got it home, hooked up to one of my TVs and wired Ethernet and was glad to be able to stream all of my downloaded/converted video & music + stored photo I've got over the years from my local server (Acer Aspire H340). I've tried AVI, DivX, XviD, WMV, MOV, MKV, FLV (got a ton of these) - all played fine, no problems! :) Small Preview window on the right of the browser window can be turned off to speed up the search for a particular file. While everyone's talking about other well-known MSs this one is practically unknown to the public - undeservingly so! I'm glad I didn't go for the other ones - this one's got the features others don't have and the competitive price!

Diamond HD Media Wonder review
Great product to access your downloaded "avi" files on your PC and
play back to your HD TV .. I've only used the wired network method which played the movies flawlessly...
